This book started off like it was just another beach-trash work of fiction and then I stopped reading it for a bit while I read another book. I felt that the pause in reading it caused me to lose momentum with the plot line and that the tone of the book when I returned to it had shifted into a spy thriller. It was still a good book and I may read the next book in this series because it was an interesting read and I did like the character even though he was named Patrick which didn't seem to fit with the spy thriller theme of the author's.
