It’s odd reading a children’s book as an adult, but it was a real giggle and I did really enjoy it! I loved how the characters are all so over the top and the circumstances are just as bizarre
fast-paced

This was the biggest let down in my life. How this was ever written for kids one wonder, because this was boring beyond boring. - And I like boring, vibing, meandering stories from time to time. It's nice with chill, low/lower stakes stories. But this just killed my will to read. I luckily found that audible had it as a free audiobook and I ended up swapping from my library ebook to that. Otherwise I had DNF'ed it, because I just read slower and slower for each page I turned.

As a kid I endored the various animated versions of this and I'll say the old animated shows or picture books or shorter versions of this story is the way to go! The full version cures insomnia!
Sorry to the lovers of this classic, I really wanted to love the orginal text.

Truly delightful, with some ingenious turns of phrases. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn chapter was awe-inspiring.

I'm not a big fan of animal stories but this one was ok. I listened to it on audio on a drive out to Oregon. The voice the narrator used for Toad annoyed me immensely and I think that really detracted from the story all together. I think Toad was supposed to be a likeable troublemaker but I was really irritated by him and not at all endeared.

Not in the mindset for it. Might pick up later.
