Wind in the willows has never been my favorite story, Toad hall and the animals as they overcome different hurdles together.

Still a classic so what do i know.... Mainly read for a challenge so giving 3 star....

Such a cheerful tangent of characters, poetry and yarns in lush settings. Books like this offer a comfortable soujern back to childhood, from current troubles. It demands little of you, which to me is it's greatest appeal. I recommend reading a chapter before bed, from an illustrated copy. It doesn't compel as easily during daylight hours. It might feel melodramatic in places, but sit, enjoy it in stillness.

It's a very fun and lighthearted read. It does touch on some heavier themes, but not too heavy or too much. I recommend this book for both children and audults. This book also gives me a lot of nostalgia.

Utterly charming and full of sumptuous English grandeur.
slow-paced

Charming, lovely and absolutely superb!

This book is most famous for the story of Toad, a narcissist with an addictive personality, and his long-suffering friends. All of that stuff is certainly entertaining, but the lavish descriptions of genteel country living and cozy fire sides are what won me over.

“One of these [doors] the Badger flung open and they found themselves in all the glow and warmth of a large fire-lit kitchen. . . . It seemed a place where heroes could fitly feast after victory, where weary harvesters could line up in scores along the table and keep their Harvest Home with mirth and song, or where two or three friends of simple tastes could sit about a they pleased and eat and smoke and talk in comfort and contentment.”
