Darius was truly great.
I can’t describe how much I loved this book, it made me feel so many emotions: sadness (I was sobbing at one point), anger, happiness, and mostly hope, it made me feel so hopeful for Darius at the end. It made me laugh too.
I loved more than his relationship with his dad, how it was developed and the one with his Mamou and Babou and sistet and mom.
But mostly I loved his relationship with Sohrab, Darius carefulness and Sohrab openness and how they complemented each other.

I adored everything about this book. It’s hard to articulate why exactly I connected to it so much, but it was one of the most meaningful reading experiences I have had in a long while. This book dealt with depression in a way I haven’t read about before, a version of how depression can function in your daily life when you are actively managing it, that most closely matches my own experience.

Not a good read for those with anxiety, depression, and/or self esteem issues. Some parts are a little too real.
