This was a weird little book. If I had t0 describe it in one word I would say "unsettling".
One fine day Phil goes to the local store to pick up some treats for him and his girlfriend (maybe wife maybe fiancée I can't remember) and while in the candy department he sees a young boy with his mother. The mother is pretty much catatonic and the kid just starts screaming. The boy basically then attaches himself to Phil and makes his life hell.
This is a really good story that fit perfectly as a novella. The kid was creepy AF and the whole book was just a nightmare in the best way. I really want to read more of Kealan Patrick Burke's work because he has some really cool and unique storylines. I've only read Blanky by him which I didn't love but was still really creepy and unique.
I would recommend this if you love the creepy kid trope and want a quick spooky read.

Not amazing, not horrible, just meh. Even though it was under 100 pages, I was expecting more depth to the plot, but it unfortunately never delivered.
