A unique story with hints of the Frog Prince, King Thrushbeard, and other fairytales woven in. While the magical aspects were interesting, I never truly connected to the characters, and the plot seemed a bit slow at times.

This King Thrushbeard retelling was very unique in its world building and how creatively the author wove the retelling into a story of their own. I loved the world that was created and magic within it. My two biggest complaints though (and reason for docked stars in rating), are that this book lacked depth and description when it came to the characters. The conversations were very much on the surface, redundant and juvenile considering that the main characters are in their 20s/30s. It was disappointing because of how much potential was there in the world building. Overall, I give this a solid two stars.

Loved the plot but would have liked more character development and had the characters to be fleshed out more
