Half a star rating docked for being a book about intersectional environmentalism, and yet legitimizing Israel as a country and not an apartheid state. So much of the book focuses on the liberation of indigenous communities, so let’s talk about Palestine.

A useful resource to have on hand to find more targeted resources. This book is meant to be a general overview, but I think that’s a really difficult thing to do when talking about intersectionalism; something that should be very intentional and specific. Often times left me wanting a lot more. A fair jumping off place.

Very informative and such an important narrative to add to the conversation of justice!!

This book is a quick, essential read for anyone who’s interested in the intersection of environmentalism/sustainability with historically marginalized communities.

This is a great guide and intro to privilege, intersectionality, and environmental wrongs! It is loaded with reflective questions making it a wonderful pick for book club! It also does a lovely job of not bogging the reader in doom and gloom but keeping an optimistic and hopeful view of the future!

A great resource for anyone interested in environmentalism. Leah Thomas demonstrates how an intersectional approach to environmentalism, but also every aspect of life, is the only way to have true liberation and solutions.

Amazing starter/primer for EJ and IE! I kept wanting Thomas to dive in, I could read a whole book about any of the chapters, but I appreciate the brevity and conciseness of this book. It’s a good intro, incredibly accessible, and I hope it will be a staple in environmental education for generations to come, highlighting Thomas and Crenshaw’s contributions to the movement.
