I loved it. I loved every word. Without getting too personal, I related to that little girl in Indiana, despite our socio-economic differences. I was her and she was me, but I have never been able to articulate “us” nearly as profoundly as Ms Ford has done.

Memoir is one of my favorites. I love books that get me engrossed and take me on a tale of emotions. This book got me angry, crying and laughing out loud. I love every part of the book. Reading about her father who was incarcerated took a ton on me , her relationship with her family.
This book is so full of grace. I love how gracious she was with her writing. It’s definitely a book that cut across different subject such as incarceration, parenting, purpose. So good!
I would definitely recommend this.

I don't think I can rate this, but it was a book. Ashley C. Ford's voice was interesting (her writing voice, I mean), but I did find myself after a point asking myself why I was listening to her story, specifically, over anyone else's.

This just was not an enjoyable book for me. So much so that I purchased the audible. I only finished because it’s our book club selection. Listening to it was just as bad as reading. I’m thankful this wasn’t my first introduction into memoirs because I’d probably not pick up another one.
