Deeply, deeply disturbing, dark and twisted. Found it difficult to read at times, obviously, because of the subject matter but the writing was good enough to keep me hooked (even though Celeste is Awful).

Though the writing is, owing to the narrator's point of view, deceptively lighthearted, this novel offers a disturbing look into the mind of a ruthless predator. It's a portrait of an abuser in the modern age as well as a rare look into the world of a female sex offender.

Holy hell. This story is so disgusting. The author did an amazing job writing such a horrible, sociopathic character. Celeste is completely, utterly repulsive. Every single aspect of her is revolting and the fact that we got a first POV makes it even worse because we're literally in her head when she does all this. I had to skip a lot of the explicit scenes because it was just too much. I found myself shaking in anger at times. I really wanted there to be more repercussions so the ending was a bit disappointing, but I'm sure it reflects how a lot of trials go for pedophilia and rape.

Nutting tells the story of a monster with a delectable prose that will make it impossible for you to put the book down until the very last couple of chapters. Shocking and distressing, Tampa is still a marvellous read, if only for the mastery of character building and narration that dominates most of the book.
