Enjoyed it less than the first book, but still good!

This starts slowly and then goes into a long voyage where they run from encounter to encounter. A lot of the magic of the first book seemed to be missing here. The characters were just as good, but now the puzzles they solved in the second half seemed very easy (or nonexistant). It became more of an action novel for some reason.

Great continuation of a great series! In this book, I admired even more the author's skill in building the children's characters. They're highly intelligent yes, but it's their weaknesses that make them endearing and very real. Like any team in real life, they're stronger as they balance each other and use each others' strengths. Reynie, for example, is a natural leader because of his high EQ (emotional intelligence). He's always making observations on human nature such as, "he was the sort of person whose shame made him bitter and resentful." And Constance Contraire continues to become more intriguing as her gifts develop and more is hinted about her backstory. Looking forward to the next installment!

Honestly like a 2.5.. it was just so slow and boring?Partly this could be due to mostly listening to this on audiobook which isn't my preferred method. Really disappointed since I loved the first one!!
