really solid horror book - read it in a few hours. i’d seen the movie first, but definitely enjoyed the book more and felt it gave interesting insights. really spooky and oddly deep??

You definitely are going to have to look up the explanation or re-read the book to understand what's actually happening, it's amazing.

The first 100 pages felt like the author had crawled inside my head and listened to my thoughts. As the book went on it then began to become more and more unsettling and distressing until it culminated in a completely  devastating ending. Not a book for everyone, and not something I would have read if I knew the plot, but I’m glad I did.

This was a bit of a mixed pot. The beginning and middle of the book are interesting and there’s some interesting philosophical points brought up in these sections. However, I found the third act of this book very difficult to get through, not particularly engaging and at times painfully jumpy. The ending brought everything back together in an interesting way though. I’d say it’s worth a read but maybe don’t add it to the top of your reading list.
