I'm glad that I read this, but it is not up to par with Alisha's other books.

A steamy read with well-defined characters and heart-string tugging drama. Alisha Rai's series if fast paced, sex positive, and an entertaining read.

Overall a solid trilogy and I liked how they built upon each other. The last is particularly satisfying with the callbacks to lines and events that happened in the previous books. The sex is hot and even though Tatiana and Wyatt get pretty deep into the D/s play, consent and respecting each other's boundaries is always prioritized.

I'm so-so on the adoption sub-plotline/backstory for Tatiana and the rep was largely too dependent on stereotypes for me. I do appreciate that she has a good relationship with her bio brother and that she doesn't have a happy ending with bio mom since that fairy tale ending is so often the only adoption rep we see. Book 2 was the weakest for me of the trilogy, but I did like getting to see Tatiana's parents more, and I quite liked her mom.

Tatiana and Wyatt are interesting characters, though it takes a little bit for their depth to come out. Sometimes their flaws present in ways that made me dislike them. I also loathe conflict that can be solved by talking to each other but they don't to serve the plot, so that also contributed to making Book 2 the worst for me. I was on the fence about them earlier in Book 1 because they both come across as cold and unlikable in how they interact with Quest employees--Tatiana is quick to start treating them like "the help" and Wyatt is only marginally better. But they both develop more personality and act in ways that show they have theory of mind.

Akira was great and I'm looking forward to her book. I know these were novellas, but I wish there'd been a little more of other people/friends in the two main's lives.

Note that there is casually ableist language present in the series.
