Not as strong as the first and story is becoming a bit convoluted with some weird antagonists. Still enjoyable, though I probably wouldn't make it through the entire series if this went longer than 3 volumes. Looking forward to the third and final one, though.

Fully invested in this storyline. The depth of the story, from vol 1 to vol 2, superb. Definitely following this one.

~ Great Sequel! ~

Really loving this comic series!! The artwork is gorgeous and the story is really creative and fun!! I’ve borrowed both of these from the library but will definitely have to go find and buy the series at some point!!

I can’t wait to see how everything plays out in the final volume!!

CWs - violence, infrequent language

You're right. You didn't kill my dad. But I didn't either. He sacrificed himself. Because he loved me. And giving you a single shred of credit for what he did takes away from that.

Another action-packed and visually stunning treat from the Skyward team! I loved the first volume, but this one may edge out to be my favourite so far. It's hilarious, terrifying and mysterious in turn, and I can't wait for Vol. 3! Especially with that cliffhanger ending... (If that's who I think it is, then HOT DAMN am I ready to read on!) Plot exposition is masterful, skilfully using crossed wires, overheard snippets of dialogue and imaginative vantage points to flesh out the narrative without ever feeling clunky. And always beautiful to behold, of course! Willa's characterisation is nuanced, as are those around her, and I liked that there were multiple antagonists with different motives - nicely illustrating the moral spectrum of human nature. How far would you go for revenge?

The supplemental (script and sketches) at the back was also awesome, especially as someone who aspires to write and illustrate a graphic novel of her own one day.

Read my review of Vol. 1 here!

Volume 2 of Skyward leaves us with Willa and her friend Edison as they try to make their way out of Chicago and to Kansas City, where Willa's father told her to go in his final moments before he sacrificed his life to save his daughter. But as they travel outside of the city, Willa and Edison are trapped on a train then by farmers turned survivalists as things start to get just a little bit crazier and post apocalyptic.
