It’s hard to give a rating to this book because so much of it is about Harris’ policies and what lead her to advocate for her stances. I really enjoyed learning the why behind her choices as an AG and senator. I wish I could have learned more about Harris as a person beyond her politics and profession as a lawyer, but I found this book a lot more interesting than I expected! I found the chapter about her mother’s passing especially moving. I really enjoyed it and would recommend if you want backstory on Harris’ politics. I did the audiobook which was also narrated by Kamala Harris which I really liked!

I was expecting more of a personal memoir and this felt like a resume in book format. It was probably published during or in anticipation of her run for president, so it’s written in a way that highlights all her achievements. There is a lot of mention of her mother and how she impacted her life, which I enjoyed reading about. However, working in the nonprofit legal world for a long time, I already am aware of much of the content in this book, so it felt too work-related for me. But now that Kamala Harris will be our VP, I did appreciate learning more about her political viewpoints and her fierce, tough, and persistent demeanor. Based on what I read in this book, she is going to be pushing very hard to accomplish things over the next four years.

Yeah I was just not a fan of this book. To be it seem as just bragging about what she done. The book was all over place to me. I didn't get what I was expecting from this book.
