A solid debut. Fantastic range of characters. Would love to read Tiwanda's story of the author chooses to write it.

This is definitely a cute read with a lot of diversity in the characters. There wasn’t a single character that I didn’t like. The main character is just a normal black woman who goes through normal things, and I love that. It’s sometimes hard to find media where black people can just be black without it being their personality.
On the other hand—and this might be a bit controversial—a lot of times when I read books written by fellow black women, it feels like they’re trying too hard not to upset other races or to make them laugh, I.e. Tyler Perry. BUT this definitely didn’t feel like that. It was such a relief, and I applaud Camille Baker for that. I can't wait to read more works from her in the future.
I didn’t really enjoy the whole app thing because there was a lot up in the air: how it ended up on her phone, how it got her location and who she’s met in her past, how it redownloaded itself and knew she found someone. It felt like a Disney movie move, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But I probably wouldn’t have chose to read it as quickly. Also, was it Joelle who was behind the app? It felt like that’s what it was, but it just wasn’t mentioned because that’s really cheesy.

This one was quite muddy. I wanted to like it a whole lot more than I did, but had such a hard time getting into it because there seemed to be too many plot lines.
On the surface, the story is that our MC, Cori, is forced to take part in an unexplained dating app on her phone, Met. She’s promised to meet people from her past and determine her soul mate. Instead, she meets someone through friends and starts to feel for him too: but is it worth passing on a potential soul mate?
Instead, we have all as plot lines!
The writing also came off as inconsistent to me. At times, it felt like a middle-aged woman speak, then it would become modern slang. It made it hard to feel as if Cori was authentic. I never got a clear sense of who she was through this.
Otherwise, I liked her friends more than anything else. Tee and Elise were genuine and had a clear sense of who they were. I even really enjoyed Devin as a character because they brought warmth. But both Corinne and Cory were bland to me. I expected more.

Such a cute sweet story
Something that really stood out for me was how the author wrote the main characters high functioning depression. It wasn't obvious but when u payed attention to how she was floating through life after her friend died she was sad
Also not me screaming at my book like CORI IMA KILL YOU THAT MAN IS YOUR SOUL MATE GET YOUR LIFE IN ORDER !!
I loved her friends and the support system they gave her and how quickly they pulled her in.
Really gave me all the feels

I wanted to love this book, but I couldn't connect. The concept is cute and modern - a dating app but one that reveals someone you've already met is your soulmate. I found the main character, Corrine, to be lacking substance. While I did appreciate the diversity of characters (and think it is SO important) I frankly found the book to be cheesy and predictable.
I felt like the character development was meh. I didn’t really care about anyone much. Loved the representation of LGBTQIA+ in this book. The love interest characters didn’t have much chemistry tho. The whole thing fell pretty short for me.
This was a cute read. Dealing with loss and what comes next. A story of friendship, discovery and a chance at love. A fabulous diverse read with great representation. I was pulling for a particular love interest and it was fun watching the relationships grow.
Such a cute romance, I loved all the diversity as well.
