Three Perfect Liars was great! I loved how the reader had no idea what was happening at first. It began with the fire and the three characters had POVs that took place beforehand. We didn’t know if one of them started the fire and, if so, why. We weren’t sure how thee 3 characters were connected aside from having ties to Harry Wood, but what did that matter?

I loved how there were police transcripts of interviews in between the POVs as they interviewed employees at the company and the picture of what happened slowly began to emerge.

This book was a domestic thriller without being focused on secretive husbands or wives who drink too much wine and get suspicious, which was a nice relief. With Laura returning to a high stress job after maternity leave, she struggled to prove herself to her bosses while also struggling to balance motherhood and her career. I love that the book dealt with that issue a little more as Laura couldn’t quite find her place. I think the issue of career vs motherhood is an interesting one and I could emphasize with Laura as she tried to balance the two. Other moms can be so judgmental, while male bosses may tend to assume once you have a baby, you’ll be less reliable. Laura wanted the best of both worlds, but was constantly having to prove herself to everyone.

Mia and Janie were less open characters. Both of them seemed to be hiding something and I couldn’t quite figure either of them out for some time.

I loved the characters and how all of it came together as the three of them watched the office building burn.

I found this hard to get into, which is apparent as it took me nearly a month to read this.
I wasn’t a fan of the switching between past and present tense that was used here.
I expected a tense whodunnit style novel but it all felt a little flat to me.
I couldn’t get along with any of the characters, none of them were likeable.
A very slow moving story with multiple narrators

Thank you Netgalley for a ARC of this book.

If you want an office mystery or a business related mystery, this is for you. It wasn't for me. I was confused because I felt like we were introduced to far too many characters at the beginning. I felt overwhelmed.

Laura has just returned from maternity leave and is livid to find someone else sitting at her desk. Okay, I get that. It’s awkward.

And while her boss does give her back her desk immediately, he is keeping the women who she hired to just fill in for her while she was on maternity leave, permanently. And he is giving the new girl their most important client.

Oh the horror. And I really should identify with Laura, but she seems so unlikeable. Mia, the “temp” has befriended everyone in the office, won over the client and seems to have the best intentions, so what if she came across the job in a different way.

Then there is Janie, the boss’s wife. She was a prominent defense attorney but left to be a stay at home mom in the burbs when her husband builds an office there. Hmm. Why? That doesn’t add up. Unless she had enough of the rat race and was just done?

So which is the protagonist? Who’s the antagonist? Well, just like in any office with all the politics, there isn’t a clear cut answer.

I really enjoyed Three Perfect Liars. I totally identified with the characters and their struggles and enjoyed the well-place twists and turns. So much of the readability of a book relies upon the characters, and Perks nailed them. She writes from the perspective of three super relatable characters with real-life struggles. It’s super readable.

And I haven’t even said anything yet about the fire. Just like in Little Fires Everywhere, the narrative arc is set around a fire. Who started it and why. And who did the fire claim? It works so well as a catalyst who cares if it’s been done before

Special thanks to Netgalley and Gallery Books for an e-galley in exchange for my honest review. This one releases today. My review will be published on my blog, Women in Trouble Book Blog on August 18,
