I liked the beginning of the book and there was good buildup. But the last few chapters were forgettable and was lackluster. It was also very predictable. Could be because I've read a lot of thrillers.

Still good and will read more from this author. Would recommend this to those who just started reading the genre.

What a good book to win! How exciting it is to win a giveaway and then even more exciting to enjoy the book! "Three Perfect Liars" goes on sale June 9th, 2020. This suspense novel is about three women, a fire that destroys a successful local business, and their many lies.

I really enjoyed the set up of the book which includes chapters interviewing the characters after the fire destroys the business. The remaining chapters include the lives of the main characters 8 weeks prior to the fire, to present. The interview portions made it interesting and feel more intense investigation wise, without being overly technical procedural wise. While three main characters all have reason to be upset with the owner Harry, and his company that is destroyed, this novel keeps you interested and guessing until the end. I enjoyed that it was not predictable. It held my interest the entire time and was a quick easy read and I wanted to know what was going to happen. The characters were multi-dimensional with adequate backstory on each of them so you knew personalities and emotions and motives for any actions for the most part.

Given that this is going to be released in June it would make a great vacation read if you aren't into rom-com or chick-lit or want a change of pace. Or even just love the sound of the book! While this does contain suspense and holds your interest it isn’t too technical and is easy to follow along.

Huge thanks to Goodreads and Gallery Books of Simon & Schuster, for providing giveaways. Their giveaway has in no way influenced my rating, nor was I under any obligation to review the book after reading it.

This combination kept me glued to the pages and I really liked all of the women's stories. I listened to the audio which is narrated by Sara Poyzer, Rupert Farley, and Olivia Darnley. The narration was completely on point, and I really enjoyed the audiobook which means I definitely recommend it!

Three Perfect Liars is basically a suspenseful mystery and there were also some social issues thrown in. At one point I even teared up a little bit, so it was nice that it also evokes emotion. It also felt a bit like a domestic drama which was a nice touch as well. I like when authors can mix up genres in a book and it kept things interesting for me. It is quite the page-turner, and I finished the audio in just a couple of sittings. The ending seemed a bit like something I have read before, but it still surprised me, and I was satisfied with it. The book also randomly switched between past and present which did get a little confusing but overall I was able to keep up. I would recommend to fans of suspense and who liked the formatting of Pretty Guilty Women.

3.5

In the aftermath of a fire at an advertising agency, Laura, Mia, and Janie find themselves as suspects. What happened before and how do they know each other? I was excited about this book, expecting a workplace thriller! But this is more of a domestic drama with the mystery of the fire in the background. I thought the three main characters are interesting with their own distinct voices. I liked watching how their relationships unfold and trying to guess where it went wrong. I enjoyed the writing and the dialogue that sounded natural.

That said, I found the story to be predictable with familiar tropes of suspected infidelity, working women vs motherhood, and women blaming other women for men’s bad behaviour. I also thought the male characters to be thinly sketched so it was hard to care about them. Overall, I would recommend this only if you’re looking for a slow burn character-driven domestic drama with a touch of mystery.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a review copy.

I enjoyed how there were the interview transcripts in different sections of the books. I love when books put different mediums in their work to help amplify the storyline. It really set the tone.

There is a lot happening behind the scenes that really doesn’t make sense until you’re about 85% in. It’s kind of anti-climatic, and I felt like Laura was annoyingly paranoid. I felt for her at first, because I know what it’s like to have your position stay the same... but not after maternity leave. But the paranoia was a bit much. I wish it would have centered more around Laura doing more to unveil the truth about Mia. Her calling the former employer and the Facebook stalking had me itching in anticipation, but that’s all there was.

This does have a great message on workplace gender roles and workplace harassment. I’ve worked for the “good ole boys” before, and this was very realistic. I also appreciated how they tackled the subject or rape and a victim coping from such a heinous act.

Overall, this was a good read. I wish there was more in depth on Mia’s intentions, or Janie’s previous work, or Laura and Harry’s relationship. If my boss lied to me the way Harry did, I would not have gone back.

Thank you NetGalley and Galley books for the ARC!

Twisty and dark.

I loved how the characters all interlinked but you weren’t sure how.

I thought I knew what had happened and I was partly right. But shocked at other bits.

An excellent thriller.

I was really excited to read another book by Heidi Parks and this definitely hit the spot!

I loved the style of writing and was immediately drawn into the world of Laura, Mia and Janie. This is very cleverly written in sections before the first and then in interviews after the fire.

There are many complex thoughts working through this book Laura is struggling to ‘have it all’ after the birth of her baby. If leaving her precious baby behind at six months wasn’t enough, she returns to work to find her biggest customer has been ‘stolen’ by Mia and she is devastated, she wants it all, but can she have it?

Janie, on the other hand, appears to have everything she could ever want, a stay at home mum to her two beautiful daughters, both in private schools, a beautiful home complete with swimming pool and as much spending money as she wants. On the surface, she enjoys coffee with her friends and a busy life running around the children and school activities. Though underneath she appears to dislike everything about her life aside from her daughters!

Mia clearly has an ulterior motive; she has read Laura well and tricked her into leaving her role while she is on maternity leave. While she’s been gone Mia has ensured that everyone in the office loves her and she gets to keep her role and Laura’s biggest client. With a secret home life and difficulties there her motive doesn’t become clear until the very end.

Everything becomes clear at the end of the book, with a great twist!

Three perfect liars is an emotional journey to follow with many more lows than highs but it’s not a depressing read at all. This was a great page turner that kept me hooked until the very end as I’ve come to expect from Heidi!

Laura is finally back to work after her maternity leave, however, the person she hired to cover while she was gone has somehow find a way to not only become a permanent employee, but also take Lauras largest client as her own. Laura will not let Mia win. Mia has her own reasons for her sneaky behavior for though, ones she doesn’t want anyone at the office to find out about. And then there is Janie. She gave up her career, and their home to support her husband and his career, but it seems she might be hiding something too. This can’t end well…

Three women, all have a secret. The office has burned down, but everyone is staying silent on who did it. This book had me on the edge of my seat. I used to work with a “Mia” so I could totally relate to the way that Laura was feeling! I wish we knew a little bit more about Mia earlier on, but I did enjoy learning more as the book continued. This one jumped between current day, where the detectives are trying to find out what happened, and the 8 weeks before the fire happened. This was a quick read that I really enjoyed!
