I got this book to read with my kids, after finishing the adult novel, "A Dog's Purpose". My kids fell in love with Ellie as much as I had, and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to share this dog's perspective with them. Now they are asking for more books like it. Perhaps "Bailey's Story" should be next for the author...? :)

This was a very cute story about a search and rescue German Shepard named Ellie. Written in the same narrative style as A Dog's Purpose & Dog's Journey - fans of those books will enjoy this one too. I'm a sucker for dog stories! This was no exception.

Book #48 Read in 2015
Ellie's Story by W. Bruce Cameron (YA)

This is an adaption of Cameron's bestseller, A Dog's Purpose, geared towards middle school readers. Ellie is a search and rescue dog and this book details her training and how she becomes a success at search and rescue. The book is told from Ellie's point of view so readers are able to know her thoughts on things like car rides, cats and the people she meets. It was a cute read and had decent black and white illustrations. I received a copy of this book from the Amazon Vine program in exchange for a honest review.

Very cute! We actually had this story in [b:A Dog's Purpose|7723542|A Dog's Purpose|W. Bruce Cameron|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1440729698s/7723542.jpg|10479953], but this has been revamped for the younger crowd. Its a great way to show kids what rescue dogs do, and its so fun to have it from the dog's point of view. I've loved these books, and, while it is a bit of a repeat, its a great way to get the kids involved in this wonderful series.

Read this to preview it for a kid's summer book club. Really enjoyed it. Written from the dog's perspective and has some grown up problems. I think young readers who like animals at all would love this book.

Very sweet animal story - told from the perspective of the dog. Search and rescue pieces add just the right amount of tension/excitement.
