The Tragedy of Felix and Jake
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Aww, they're so sweet. Although the writing was shitty, I really enjoyed this. I didn't give a fuck about the smut though, like it wasn't really necessary.

Tropes/Themes:
-MM contemporary romance
-Addiction representation (both MMCs are in early recovery)
-Age gap
-Grump x Sunshine
-Taboo (they develop a sponsor/sponsee relationship, and are also discouraged from forming romantic relationships in early recovery)
-Dual POV
-Standalone (eventually ends in an HEA)
I have very mixed feelings about this. There were elements of the relationship and characters that I absolutely LOVED, and I found the writing itself very beautiful and engaging. However, my biggest issue was that I found the addiction representation to be a little questionable at times. I am sure my previous work as an AODA therapist is making me read into things a little bit more, but I felt like there was a little too much glamorization (especially as it pertains to romantic relationships in recovery). I also feels like it tokenizes addiction a little bit, but maybe that's just me.
CWs for addiction, substance use, relapse, overdose, suicidal ideation, toxic parental relationships, loss of a parent, miscarriage

didn’t love it. I honestly found Felix annoying at times; mainly the things he thought. It isn’t a life changing book and i wouldn’t recommend to many.
