"Ashes of Man" by Christopher Ruocchio is the fifth book in the Sun Eater series, continuing the epic journey of Hadrian Marlowe. This installment dives deeper into the intricate universe Ruocchio has crafted, exploring themes of identity, legacy, and the far-reaching consequences of one's actions.

Hadrian's character arc remains a central focus, with this novel pushing him to confront his past decisions and their impact on the present. His growth is both compelling and nuanced, offering readers a protagonist who is deeply human, grappling with the weight of his responsibilities and the cost of his ambitions.

The world-building in "Ashes of Man" is as immersive and detailed as ever. Ruocchio introduces new locales and cultures, enriching the already complex tapestry of the series. The descriptions are vivid, painting a clear picture of the diverse settings Hadrian traverses.

The plot is expertly crafted, balancing action-packed sequences with moments of introspection and philosophical inquiry. The stakes are high, and the tension is palpable throughout the narrative. Ruocchio's skillful pacing ensures that each chapter propels the story forward, keeping readers engaged from beginning to end.

Supporting characters play crucial roles, adding depth and dimension to the story. Their interactions with Hadrian reveal different facets of his personality and challenge him in various ways. These relationships are well-developed, contributing to the emotional resonance of the novel.

Ruocchio's prose continues to be a highlight, blending lyrical beauty with clarity and precision. His ability to convey complex ideas and emotions through elegant writing enhances the reading experience.

"Ashes of Man" is a compelling continuation of the Sun Eater series, delivering a rich and rewarding narrative that delves into the heart of Hadrian Marlowe's journey. It’s a must-read for fans of the series, offering a thought-provoking and emotionally satisfying addition to the epic saga.

This book should not exist. I adore the author but this, nope, nothing is happening for big parts of the book, just meaningless brawls and rambling.
Granted the rambling is in top notch prose but it's still rambling....
