I’ve known it was going to happen, I just wasn’t sure when or where; but it still hurt!

If the last book was traumatizing, this one just broke my heart.

I’ve loved this series since book 1 and I don’t know what I will do when it’s finished. The world, the characters, the magic system, the action & politics. It’s all just so well done and thought out. 

My poor Hadrian just can’t catch a fucking break.

This series is AMAZING! It is a mix of Dune, Star Wars (yes, I know that Star Wars is a "rip-off" Dune), but also Fantasy elements, and some other stories...that as I'm writing this review...have left my brain.

From the beginning of the series, we have been told that Hadrian Marlow is "the bad guy", but like a frog that is SLOWLY boiled, I haven't seen it. I guess I've been numb to the progression of him explaining his situations...and I've grown to really love him, and root for him.

I know that he doesn't always stand on the correct side of things, but from his perspective, he's doing what he feels is best for him, and his loved ones.

There is a TRULY sad situation that happens near the end of this book, that unfortunately was spoiled for me by someone online. So, I knew it was going to happen in this book, so when it happened it had LESS of an impact. I really wish people would NOT spoil books that they've read, and others haven't. Ugh. It didn't ruin the reveal, but made it less impactful.

There are a lot of sit around an talk moments in this book, but for some reason, it didn't bother me.

I know that I'm nearing the end of this series...but it has been such a breathe of fresh air. The writing is so masterful, and it really does feel like our world...a LONG time in the future.
