I expected the story to be a little longer, it was interesting to see the differences made in the animation which I do think I preferred with the addition of the doll and Wybie. 
This will be a classic in my household

finished in four hrs while playing minecraft …… and let me just start by saying so much darker than i would have ever expected.. the movie really doesn’t do it complete justice,,,
although my judgment is very clouded bc of the movie i still really enjoyed this book and this new look into this world, i do think some things could have been zeroed in on a little more and had more detail to them but at the same time the subtleness of it adds to the eerie vibes….

i personally thought the book was just okay. the movie was more enjoyable, and added extra bits the novella does not have (like Wybie). personally if you want to read neil gaiman i suggest the graveyard book but coraline is not a bad option, just average.

Coraline! This movie terrified me as a kid even though I don’t think I even watched the whole thing it had simply always given me the creeps so I was a little hesitant when this came up for a Halloween book for a book club I’m in, but when I learned it’s by Neil gaiman I thought I would give it a try as I’m a big fan of the good omens show and haven’t actually read anything by him. And it went okay! I read it outside on a warm sunny afternoon which I think helped but it did not freak me out as much as I thought it would and I liked it! Neil Gaiman says at the end that it’s a book “that children experienced as an adventure, but which gave adults nightmares” and I seem to be on the reverse end of that which is a win for my “inner” child! I might even be ready to watch the movie now
