The book was definitely a slow burn for me, and I'd say I wasn't really in to it until halfway through. The main character, Francie, is so relatable and you really feel for her in certain parts of the story. The book is full of hilarious and heartbreaking moments. Overall, I enjoyed it and definitely recommend it if you're looking for a good, heartfelt story.

while the writing was often gorgina the first ~200 pages of the book were really slow and i found it hard to get into. once it picked up, i enjoyed seeing the world through the eyes of little francie and it reminded me a lot of Angela’s Ashes

This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read.  It has instantly become one of my favorite books of all time, and it is a book that I believe I will come back to periodically for the rest of my life.  I have never read a book that showcases the human experience better than this book does.

One of my favorite books of the year and of all time. Francie’s story will always have a special part of my heart.
——-
“Let me be something every minute of every hour of my life. Let me be gay; let me be sad. Let me by cold; let me be warm. Let me be hungry…have too much to eat. Let me be ragged or we’ll dressed. Let me be sincere-deceitful. Let me be truthful; let me be a liar. Let me be honorable and let me sin. Only let me be something every blessed minute. And when I sleep, let me dream all the time so that not one little piece of living is ever lost.”- A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
