Read this mainly out of curiosity for one of the better known talk show hosts and dancers of China. Autobiographies are somewhat always hit-or-miss. This one recounted events pretty well, but reads more like a diary more than anything.
JinXing is a transgender icon on the highest stage the Chinese entertainment circle. She’s grew up in my city and has made it to a legendary status. I expected to understand to a deeper level how this affected her career, and have a better grasp of Chinese LGBT culture through the lens of a successful public figure, but it read more like a coming-of-age story.
But still infinite applause for her perseverance, being transgender, grew up during cultural revolution and of North Korean origins. What a fighter!
