Super fun thriller! My first Koontz novel I would consider a success! Sometimes the characters were a little flat or the dialog for a few of the characters felt stiff, but overall this was a really good romp through a horror-filled mountain town! The ending felt a bit rushed but, in the end I was happy with this book. I’ll definitely be reading more Koontz down the line!

I had never seen the movie so I had no idea what to expect. The synopsis on the book makes it sound like bloated bodies come back to life and haunt this small mountain town.
But boy was I wrong. I read this book during a hot summer in Florida and found myself reading so long I'd get sun burned.
I couldn't put it down. It may be cheesey to some people, and it may really piss some people off with the subject of religion.
But I was just looking for a suspenseful, dark, page turner and that's what I got.
This is my favorite Koontz book so far.

Mixed emotions!
I really do have mixed emotions & thoughts about this book. On the one hand I loved it, it was fast paced & didn't want to put it down. On the other hand I found it slow going & struggled to pick it back up.
The only thing I can put this down to is reading too many books at the one time. I shall try a binge re-read of this one at a later date to see if I click with it better.

had to force myself to finish it >.< honestly it was disappointing. the author spent too much time being vague and repetitive, using science that didn't feel as believable as it should have and phrases like "lycanthropic metamorphosis" *cringe*. plot was alright, characters were okay but no feelings of inspiration or omg i have to see what happens next :/.
one of my favorite dean koontz novels, and i believe it's the first i read by him! this was my fourth? time rereading it in the past few years and it still held up! there were actually a couple things i never picked up on so i was :0!
