These are not deep, but they are fun.

Since Goodreads no longer trusts me to add a new edition when needed, I am writing this here. I listened to an audiobook, not an audio CD. But it's the right narrator, Dan Calley, so this is closer.

Taking a job for the Unnatural Enquirer to find a DVD of an actual message from the afterlife, Taylor partners with a demon girl reporter. Lots of action. Pretty dark overall, but I am fascinated by the series.

Many phrases are repeated throughout the series, which makes them become somewhat flat. But I still like the sarcasm; however, it isn't as good as what Harry Dresden can do.

I don't know if I'm just tired of the Nightside-- having listened to so many of this series in quick succession, but I think things may have peaked in book 6.

Now John is picking up odd jobs and author Simon R. Green seems to be recycling phrases and describing bosoms (heaving bosoms artfully displayed with coy, manipulative cleavage) with no real direction. I read most of these ages ago, but I'm beginning to remember why my interest fizzled out.

This is a fantastic world with gods and demons and vices and everything you'd want from a paranormal/noir... And I'm bored. I may skip to the next one and see if things improve...

I felt pretty sorry for Bettie. She felt very naive and young to me. It was so plainly obvious that John Taylor is not really good dating material for anyone but Suzie Shooter.
