Conversational parts were much better than the long visually descriptive ones. Lots of interesting themes but at parts felt poorly realised. Since finishing I’ve found this is known as a poor translation so will try the 2011 version too!!

Overall this book was fairly enjoyable and complex with Kelvin's profound self reflections and the novels otherworldly setting, however it is certainly a slower paced book, it's central concern being(at least in my eyes) not very clear along with extended scientific jargon took it from a great read to an okay read.
