Unfortunately the follow up to devils breath (which I loved), doesn't quite hit the same mark. This felt all over the place at times, with an incredibly obvious twist from the start and random charters that did nothing to further the plot.
The entire thing felt forced, and the botanical theme felt like an after thought in this one. The first novel was a botanical mystery, full of interesting plants and random facts. This had a silly botanical name cypher, a plant on someone's shirt and pulled random bits from the first novel in an attempt to capture the spark. Disappointed and bored.

Second book in the series and it didn’t disappoint. The character of the Professor has settled down, whilst still keeping the characteristics. The story is gripping with the added twist of toxic plants, which I find fascinating.

I read the first book in the serie and gave that book 4 stars. This book wasn't that interesting to me. It felt boring and it missed something, there wasn't enough mystery in this book. To be honest at the end of the first book, it felt good to me, finished.

Loved this sequel, I like the growth of Eustacia and the twists and turns. I was able to guess some of it but still really enjoyed it.
