DNF @ 57%. BORING. Slow story with inconsistent pacing. Difficult to get into the MCs. Poe was very juvenile and bratty for a 23 year old man. Poe finally found an adult who he admired and was attracted to Jericho for that reason. Never understood what Jericho saw in Poe. No relationship development. No sexual chemistry. Dull sex. Very light D/s.

Alternating first person POV. The writing didn't match the characters. Poe's internal thoughts were more mature than his behavior. His internal thoughts had more complex words than his character development. Jericho's thoughts were less sophisticated than Poe's and didn't match his character. Internally, he came across weaker than his character. The writing just didn't mesh and felt "off" for both MCs.

Really disappointed because I love the hell out of Avon Gale's Breakaway series. Note, I made progress updates while I read.

Overall, there was nothing *wrong* with this book - I thought maybe I didn't like it as much was because I kind of really really hated the narrator. He just didn't do it for me... but as I read more reviews, I have to say, no, it's not me, it's this book.

I don't think Daddy kink was the right theme to go for this book. Esp since J's BFF with Poe's dad.

I kind of cringed at the whole Daddy thing -- like dude -- something else would have been way better.

I love tattoo books, and I love tattoo books done right. I think, all in all, that was the saving grace.

I think it's worth a read. There wasn't really anything too cringeworthy... I didn't really feel the speech Jericho gave Landon in the end of why he was with Poe -- it felt pushed and rushed and I feel like there could have been so many other reasons.

As a reader I hated how J was acting all fatheresque and judgy (I mean, the fucker's only 40 and Poe is 23...) it was like too mature and too childish like, I thought Poe sounded more like a 17 year old than a 23 year old and I know loser 23 year olds in my day, yo.

I did appreciate J's speech to Poe about his past and it put a lot of things in perspective but by the time that came around, I'd lost interest in their story and just wanted the book to be over with.

Also, realistically, Daddy kink isn't the comfort you want to provide to your partner who just had a huge fight and falling out with their best friend. I think that scene after Blue and Poe's fight could have been made so much more important in Poe and Jericho's relationship but cheesy dialogue and kink sort of ruined it.

And fuck man, there are things I loved here.. Age difference. Daddy kink. And it was like 7 hours long. WITH TATTOOS. And you still couldn't keep me.

Some definite heat going on~

This was a really fun, hot read, but one thing that kinda bothered me is how, especially first sexual encounter, there’s no explicit consent and there was a lot of “I know you want me” kinda stuff going on. The consent is especially important because even from get-go there’s some face slapping with Jericho’s genitals, and while Poe enjoyed it, it kinda bothers me that this wasn’t negotiated.

I did think the conflict with Blue was interesting and kinda feel bad for him (imagine sequel will be Blue and Callum) but that was quite a destructive path he went on.

I loved Poe and Landon’s interactions. Like, they obviously get on each other’s nerves at times (only to be expected), but the love they have for each other is equally obvious. The scene where Poe tattooed Landon was very well done and emotional.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would definitely try more books from these authors and looking forward to continuation of this series.

Not sure how to articulate my issues with this book. I think it started with the MCs. I just didn't feel a connection to Poe or Jericho nor did I sense the connection between the two of them. Sadly that led me to giggle each time Poe called Jericho "daddy." I've read a few daddy-kink books and while they aren't my favorite, if done well and deeply integrated into the relationship between two people where I can see the kinks mesh, then I love it. This felt like an overlay of kink onto a burgeoning relationship that didn't click for me. Yes, that's fine and I love when two people come together and find that they each have a kink that works. But this didn't work for me. So this is a case of it's me not the book. I just didn't buy into Poe and Jericho's relationship. Didn't feel the connection.

This is a solid, well-written story with engaging guys, and a set of challenges both personal and non-trivial. This pair's kink is by no means mine, and yet the author managed to mostly not squik me with it, which is, frankly, impressive. I'll read the next one. :)

Enjoyable. Short to cost $5.

I really liked that the parent did not stop being friends with his best friend once the best friend started dating the son. There was no bs you-betrayed-me schtick that always seems so stupid in other books with this plotline. A little bummed that the daddy kink seemed kind of tacked on/an afterthought.

I love all things Avon Gale but with this line 'Get your daddy off' this book lost me. Obviously this kink is just not for me. Up until then the book was great - VERY well written and extremely interesting. I loved the art and tattoo talk. Everything was wonderful but that line threw me out of the book and I just never got back in unfortunately.
I will continue to read everything Avon writes because she's amazing!
