As usual, Meghan Quinn totally delivered with The Strike Out. I was in a total funk before I started listening to this audiobook! I put it on and within 5 minutes, I was totally cracking up. I couldn’t get enough of Harmony & Holt. My love for the Brentwood Boys continues to grow! Connor Crais & MacKenzie Cartwright were amazing. I could listen to the 2 of them narrate forever.

Holt and Harmony's story takes part as a piece of the Brentwood Baseball world. I think their story is my favorite of this world so far because their connection was fantastic and there was less angst in this book that in many others. They get thrown for a loop and both Holt and Harmony take it in stride. I was expecting different reactions based on how other books in the series had gone and was pleasantly surprised with this one. I love how Meghan Quinn keeps coming up with unique ideas but allowing readers to see their favorites again. This was a great book and I look forward to more.

In Harmony's opinion there is nothing worse than a baseball player who thinks he is God's gift, so when Holt and the boys have lunch at the diner and she happens to wait on them, her instant feelings of dread come into play. But Holt feels an instant attraction and does not give up. His pursuit of Harmony is filled with adorable antics that wil make the reader laugh out loud. In the end it is heart that wins her over. But wil that be enough? Or is he destined to be drafted and lose the love of his life at the same time? Filled with high emotion this was a great addition to the series. Love happens when you least expect it - but you need to be open to it for it to work.

Though I adore this series and Holt was absolute perfection I really did not like the order this book was put in the series. All the other guys that fell in love in college were at the beginning. So this felt odd in the timeline to bounce back after being with the guys in the MLB for 3 books. Almost like Holt’s story was an afterthought, when I think his should have been book. His time line matched up perfectly with book one.

Aside from the odd placement in the series the delivery of the “big news” was also weird. Like they just announce to the reader they have known for 4 days she’s pregnant. When I as a reader would have liked to get to walk through the characters reactions with them.

I really loved the insta love for them in this story! Holt and Harmony were fun and sassy. I freaking loved how he never held back his emotions about how he felt about her. Even though she was scared it was so sweet.

Oh. My. Lawd.
Hello, Holt. I’ve heard about you and your man-thongs throughout many books. Finally we meet.
It was everything I had hoped for and more.
Heart stolen, panties incinerated. New book boyfriend acquired.

Holt and Harmony’s story was exceptional. Sweet, funny, sexy as all hell, they both stole my heart within a few chapters.
Holt—with his persistence, sweetness and positivity.
Harmony—with her unapologetic honesty, her wit and her sass.
They were absolutely lockerroom material.

Not that their story was all sunshine and roses...
They had their faults, their doubts, their struggles (which, I just need to say – they nearly sent me into several panic attacks) but they worked it through, came out stronger.

I would love to see where they are now!

Connor and Mackenzie completely nailed the audio.
Once again, Meghan has earned herself a top-reads-2021 status with this book. Extra props for the little Easter eggs hidden within it.

Holt was hilarious and I loved the fact that Harmony wasn’t the traditional blonde with blue eyes like in most of the books. She had spunk that made her stubborn but Holt was always willing to go toe to toe with her. The only thing that I didn’t like was Holt was borderline stalkerish, a little skeevy but to each their own preference. I laughed so many times during this book, his quirk definitely reminded me of Jason. Overall, I loved it. 4.5/5

Perfect addition to the towel brigade

Holt has always been a mystery since the beginning so it was excellent to see him star in his own book. It was another story that I couldn’t put down- Meghan Quinn is always so captivating with her stories. I really enjoy each one. Holt and harmony were full of steam and true love!

What a sweet and funny book. It really makes you think, don't judge a book by its cover when it comes to people.

If you want some good laughs and a good story, pick this book up ❤

For about 75% I absolutely loved this book. But Harmony just completely unraveled as the book went on. She started as a strong, independent, mature young adult then became whiny and completely overreacted to relationship situations. It really ruined the book for me.
