Short story about an 18-year old girl who discovers, amongst other things, she's a witch.

I think there's a lot of potential here. I really liked the way she comes into her powers, starting with blowing up a pillow and ending with some sort of Mistress of Doom.

The writing, though. Maybe it's because my teenage years are far behind me, but sometimes the prose was rather jarring to read. The teen-speak sometimes was too much (but I guess fairly accurate for an 18 year old American Gurl, I don't know). But it fit the story, although phrases like "could of happened" hurt my eyes.

What I really liked was the transition from silly girl to some very powerful witch. When Drina gets really pissed off, the magic dripped from my virtual pages (even if the tendrils of death are pink).

The story was a bit too short, which means a lot of things are crammed into the 142 pages. I really hope, and look forward to, the next installment will take some more time to develop the characters and the world.
