Went into the second book not really expecting to love it. I liked Six of Crows but I wasn’t captivated by a long shot, it was a little slower paced than I expected at the beginning and slow burn on the relationships is a generous description. But holy shit, the second book had all the groundwork laid because of it and Crooked Kingdom was a sprint of plot twist upon plot twist from start to finish along with growth from all the main characters. You had no chance of anticipating half the twists Kaz was scheming and it all came together beautifully at the end with a mostly hopeful ending. 10/10 would recommend!

So this is for sure a 4.5. Leigh Bardugo can fucking write. Did I fucking cry with Matthias dying? Yes; Did I get the point of why he had to die? No, but whatever, that’s life I guess. Death happens randomly sometimes. Kaz and Inez have my heart, the bathroom! Omg!!!! Him buying her a boat and getting her family! Him touching her without his gloves!!!!!!! Get them a therapist and make it work as a couple! Anyway, this duology is fire, totally would recommend!
