Not his best. Great Death storyline, wizard storyline more on the absurd comic relief.

A fun adventure and absurdist exploration of death, life, purpose and legacy. The setting is both vibrant and comical, although I lost interest in the subplot about two thirds through so it felt a bit long by the end.
Keen to check out more stories in the series.

I really liked this, it was a lovely blend of sweet and funny with just the slightest edge to it. I thought the death storyline was the best written, and I kind of kept secretly wishing the perspective would go back to him, although I did also enjoy Windle. The book covers themes of life and death while still being funny and light, the ending was one of the best I’ve read. This has really touched me in a way I didn’t expect.
The seven-foot skeleton regarded her stoically. He felt there was nothing he could say.

Reaper Man, in some ways, is a cool achievement. None of the characters or the plot lines matter that much, or integrate or evolve in an interesting way. All of it just sort of slides by, daring you to try and connect deeply with a particular arc. The author sets lots of things up and then brings them off, but none of them really land. They all sort of miss. And yet—it‘s still got more charm and whimsy than a shelf full of non-Pratchett books. Reaper Man has comedic moments that make you wonder why you ever enjoyed a Douglas Adams book. Even a “meh” Pratchett book is still a good read. Recommended.
