***Trigger Warning For Rape***
This manga would have been seriously cute if it were not for the fact that there was a rape scene in it 😒. I even made a friend in the GL/BL section of my local manga store, and she was telling me about how much she liked this manga, so I had some hopes... but it was all crushed by that one scene. If it wasn't in this volume, THEN THE STORY WOULD HAVE BEEN SO CUTE! Ugh I'm mad. I was hoping that through my select choices of BL manga that I would be able to avoid the 'bad' ones.
Aside from the rape scene, the plot of the manga was decent. It's quite a slow paced one, because I was able to put it down for 24 hours without feeling the dying need to pick it up. The story is about two ex-high school lovers reuniting in college. They are able to become friends again, but Naoto is trying to prevent himself from falling in love with Taichi again. I feel like the manga gets better as you progress, with the ending being the best.
In terms of the characters, only three had a personality. Naoto, Taichi and Fumi (a girl who has a crush on Taichi). Everyone else felt like they were characters in a manga. But even with the main characters, they weren't that developed. They felt very surface level and stereotypical.
I was very conflicted about the rating of this manga, because I did enjoy it... minus the rape. I don't see why the rape was even added, because it's not like it had a great impact on the story or the characters. They sort of just brush it off WHICH MAKES IT WORSE. Naoto and Taichi just see it as a mistake and are able to be friends after, which I just don't get. I did buy volume 2 at the same time as I bought volume 1, so I will read that next. I don't think I will be able to get over the rape that was in this one, but I do want to see how the relationship progresses. One aspect that I did like in this story is that Naoto questions the progression of a gay relationship. Where can it lead if it can't follow the straight example (of like marriage, children etc), to which Taichi replies like it doesn't matter, as long as we are together and here for each other, which was cute.
Would I recommend this series? I don't think I would, simply because I have read better BL mangas that don't include rape. But I think if a reader knows that there is a rape in the story, and reads the blurb, they can make the assessment themselves as to whether they want to read it.

Love me some angst and fluff but that one scene was a no no for me. Aside from that, I'm getting volumes 2 and 3 stat.
I bought this book back in 2019 and I’m finally getting go around to reading it and HOLLLY HECK am I invested! I love the group dynamics and the acceptance within the group of the characters at the end of the book. Definitely rereading asap!!
I wanted to take time to reread this book from 2019 when I first started this series. Although I love LGBT love stories, the abuse within the relationship along with the written rape scene turned me off from even wanting to finish the book. I did enjoy what the book had to offer beyond that scene, however.

I totally borrowed this from my friend while she was distractedly reading one of her other manga. It's cute, funny, and totally worth the time.

I did like the story, but it does definitely seem like the two protagonists aren't good together as a couple. However, as there are more books in the series this may resolve that issue so I'm gonna continue with it because it was still quite an emotional ride.
I saw the small explicit box on the cover, but I didn't fully process that. haha
I don't really read yaoi so dunno if I should rate it. It's written by a woman and has a lot of problematic tropes a lot of people are aware of. I know people can like this and acknowledge the issues. This crosses my personal line. If you like it, okay, but if you're similar to me maybe consider a few things:
Includes: domestic violence (physical altercation) and rape
I don't completely shit on it (i think) I include some other thoughts at the very end.
Once it crosses over to the above list I personally feel very uncomfortable with it. The main couple went out before, but had a break up and once they ran into each other again in college the romance started as well. But so did the issues that drove them apart before.
Hase has a way of not being emotionally vulnerable with Taichi. Once they become lovers again everytime they're conversation shifts to more emotional things, or Hase gets jealous he initiates sex.
At some point Taichi gets tired of it and asks for them to just watch a movie. Hase tries to initiate again, but Taichi says no. They argue. Physically hit each other (Hase hits him first). And then Hase starts to penetrate Taichi. I know rape in yaoi is common (sadly), but it doesn't have to be. I'll leave it at that.
I think it's also stalker-like to change majors to follow Taichi.
I think Hase hasn't changed. He admits it himself. Just because he admits it doesn't mean its okay now.
Also after Taichi was raped he alienated himself from his friends. He was hurt. But eventually he went back to school and put on a happy face and it broke my heart. His thoughts were on how to remain friends with Hase, but that is the authors doing. As if he'd feel comfortable ever being around him-
But the author had to make Taichi seem like it wasn't a big deal, otherwise how is it romantic?- stopped being romantic when the love interest is a stalker rapist but oookayy.
There was also a subplot where one of the girls liked Hase, Taichi tried to set them up. Not much interesting happened there. Just a plot device for jealousy and Hase to ultimately profess his true feelings.
Also theres drunk sex near the beginning which was the first red flag. Shoulda known.
Problematic shit aside-if it didn't romanticize this relationship it shows how complex and messy relationships can be. If it wasn't seen as a romance it would be a good example of toxic relationships with domestic violence- yeah.
There was a part where Taichi was wanting to name what they had. He wanted them to be family because he wanted to be close to Hase who was keeping him emotionally distant. I thought that was interesting. Not friends, more than lovers. What word?
Also Taichi resigned their future cause what would they be able to be? They can't be an out gay couple. They can't have a typical family. When the world around you doesn't accept you or your dreams they become impossible. When you don't see yourself in society, you don't exist.
And it's weird to say this yaoi reminded me of those things, but it's true. So maybe it wasn't all bad? Nah it still disappointed me and made me a bit sad.
Also use a condom! Not just sometimes! Protect yourself.
