This book is good if you read it till the very end. There are parts that irritated me but by the end it all made sense.

4.5/5

I'll be honest, I almost noped out of this book after reading the first 2 chapters. I read through reviews so I knew how popular it was. My issue wasn't with the plot but with the writing format.

I was beyond confused.

The format POV's shifts constantly, and I was utterly confused. There seems to be three POVs;

Really enjoyed all the "feelings" of new exciting love. Also liked the use of a narrator tool to help tell the story. Would have liked a more healthy acceptance of body image throughout. Pretty fun read, even if it was a bit cliche at times :)

If your fat or were fat, you might like this book. Otherwise don't bother reading it. I thought it was O.K. It was written weirdly. We would see glimpses of the characters and then if would jump out and I'd be reading a narrator analyzing the characters. It was kind of odd. Though I did find myself anxious to keep reading... and I laughed a few times!

I also felt like I was reading a book about some stripper because ... well, look at the cover. I kept folding the book over so no one would ask what I was reading! lol.

Someone I love gave me this book to read and so I read the whole thing. But what a terrible message: Overweight girl is lonely and sad, loses weight, has adventures, and her long-time crush immediately falls in love with her skinnier self.

Still struggling to like this book. Yeah, sure, Jemima goes to a "comfortable size ten" after she becomes anorexic and catches her man. I'm all for losing weight if you need to, but not by not eating and working out all day. Also, why was Ben such an idiot that he couldn't love her the way she was?

Love!!! It gave me hope. I really want to hear all about Jemima Js life now. this book came along at a very good time in my life. I needed the thoughts and morals.

The perfect beach read.

I couldn't get past the shifting narrative - from first person to third, and then randomly into second person narrative. I made it about 25/30 pages - I would start to get mildly interested in the plot, and then there would be a switch in narrative style. It annoyed me too much to make me want to continue reading.
