I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. Complex, morally grey characters, combined with a sense of fun made this a completely worthwhile read. My only criticism is that this story would have been even better with a more aggressive editor.

Idk man I wanted to adore this so much, but I just don’t care about the plot or the world even a little bit. I love the humor and some of the characters, and I’m super interested in the magic and universe but for some reason to me it just seemed like there is just not enough story…? We’re to the “good stuff” and I can’t even care.

This is another one I really wish I liked more. I found myself very invested in the characters of Gideon and Harrowhark and I loved concepts like the skeleton necromancy. I found myself rooting for
Gideon and Harrowhark to get together and LOVED all of the scenes of them growing closer, but it honestly bothers me that when the book starts Gideon is an indentured servant trying to leave Harrow.
The ending dropped this book a whole star for me, and I'm much less enthused to continue on in the series after
Gideon kills herself. I think the idea is that she is one with Harrow now, but Harrow can't reach her? Despite some mystery about Gideon's body missing and what was up with Gideon's mother, I feel very disappointed that the sequel promises to have less Gideon in it.

Slow start. None of the world building is explained and then everything comes to a head in the last few chapters and WOW that was a ride. Can't wait for the next one
