So this was gripping and engaging and I read it all in two days because my boss thought I would like it and (a) it was gripping and engaging but also (b) I enjoy frightening people by giving them their books back a day or two later.
The title is misleading. The president is the narrator, so he's never missing as far as the reader is concerned. Lots of other people don't know where he is, but he's never kidnapped or anything, so he's missing by choice and as a function of national security. It just seemed like a weird choice for a title, even though it's a line from the book.
The fact that Clinton wrote it, though, (or some of it anyway; I'm assuming Patterson did most of the actual writing) made the whole thing weird for me. What I would usually roll my eyes at when a male author describes a female character as sexy took on a creepy overtone in this one because of the author. He made sure to include lots of strong female characters who were NOT described as sexy, which I would generally applaud, but because of the author, I wondered if maybe he was compensating. I found myself wondering about the always supportive and loving wife who had been killed off before the book even started AND the (spoiler hereafter) cutthroat and conniving chief of staff who betrays her country (but more importantly, as we are led to believe by the way it's written) the president in order to restart her failed political career.
If the author were NOT Bill Clinton, I'd probably not give all that a second thought, but the author IS (at least somewhat) Bill Clinton so I did.
Still, if you like political thrillers, this one is generally fun.

Enjoyable cyber thriller. Don't take it too seriously and it's a good entertaining read. Bill Clinton's involvement is used to add an authentic voice on some of the stuff that goes on behind closed doors at the Whitehouse but I'm not under any illusion that he contributed much to the plot.
It's similar in style to TV shows such as 24. Enjoyed escapist read.

This book was just not good. I'm not a Patterson fan (this is, I think, the first of his "books" I've read)... But I enjoy political thrillers... this just wasn't good.
The plot was good. I couldn't appreciate it as an audiobook that I listened to over 2 weeks. That greatly impacted my level of interest in the book, so I can't provide a more detailed review at this time.
It was so-so, I think I might have enjoyed it a little more if I read the book, as I disliked the voices of the various narrators on the audiobook version (some of the accents were just so strange!). Still, a fun plot that kept me engaged throughout.
Merged review:

DNF. Listening to Audible. My mind keeps wandering. I think this is the first time I haven't finished an Audible.
Actually quite fun. Significantly better than r cent James Patterson efforts, but maybe not as good as his earlier works. More Tom Clancy meets the West Wing. Don’t treat it seriously and it’s a fun afternoon.
