My God what a boring book. That is unless you love conservative propaganda.
If Tom Clancy would have done just an hours worth of research he could have cut the book by 50 pages just by removing his bashing of the British NHS. Cathy's subplot with her new doctors was so unrealistic and then never brought up again.
The mystery was well written. I genuinely enjoyed the Russian perspective and the Moscow new COS. My one qualm with the overall plot is its too similar to the next book, Hunt for Red October.

Excruciating. Clancy must have been paid per word. This entire book could have been 10 pages or less.

It seems that Clancy has gone downhill with Red Rabbit and Bear and the Dragon. Or maybe I'm just getting older.

900+ pages and while interesting at times, 'nothing' really happens. Clancy's military and cold war knowledge is extensive and impressive. However I can't help thinking Clancy was being paid by word count as he constantly repeats himself in 'Red Rabbit', also his writing about human relationships especially with the opposite sex is laughable.

About 7 pages were exciting. The rest read like the lies of intelligence agencies.

I started this book shortly after finishing Patriot Games. I convinced myself that I wanted to read the Tom Clancy novels in chronological order, but I’ve realized that this was a mistake. Red Rabbit was practically dead on arrival. The thrilling storyline, dialogue, and intrigue of Patriot Games was completely missing. It felt like I was reading the script of a rejected PBS docudrama. I was determined for almost a year to finish this book, but eventually had to quit 200 or so pages from the end. I don’t even know how the book ends, and ultimately I decided that I didn’t care. I wasn’t hooked at all. Maybe someday in the future I will pick this book back up. It may be to read it, or it may be because I need a Red-Rabbit-shaped object to keep my desk level.

It took me a little while to get into this book, but when I did, it was very good! Pretty long read!
