I know it's not right, but the BBC Sherlock series has been one of my most favourite series ever, and after watching it 8 times, I was heavily influenced by it.
So now while this was an amazing start for the books, I still need to get used to this new (old, original) version of Sherlock Holmes, and I guess that takes some time.

It's easy to give the illusion of a brilliant character when you withhold crucial details from the reader. Cutting the story in half with a drawn-out flashback to a Mormon settlement in America wasn't the finest idea either. I started reading with a positive bias but quickly became unimpressed with how bland and desultory the story turned out to be. Even the narration of Stephen Fry couldn't save it.
I'll stick with Arsène Lupin and Miss Marple, thank you very much.
