I really like Jonathan Van Ness telling me things. He speaks so genuinely and with heart. Highly recommend the audio version.

Really solid! I especially loved the chapter on HIV Safety Nets across the country. I really like JVN’s writing voice and I enjoyed their first memoir a great deal; this book is the kind of informative, explorative follow-up that I’d expect from them given their Getting Curious podcast. Each of the essays is about a different topic, based on something they’re learning about as part of their healing journey. My only real complaint is that it’s a little on the short side, which means that some of the chapters were just starting to get past the 101-level stuff and into the 202-level explorations that I wanted and then they’d be over. But I’d read another collection like this from them!

“The idea of a quick fix, focused on the external while ignoring the internal. It took me far too long to figure out that it’s all a lie”.
