Fantastic, emotional ending to this fantasy-mystery series. While I figured out most of the twist before the first hundred pages. That said, the story was still engaging and easily the most heart-breaking of the series. Every new character had a pain-filled backstory, and no one escaped without being a changed person. Blackthorn and Grim's relationship was put to the test, and I honestly had no idea how it would turn out for them. Another version of the fey was shown and I was glad to see how everything wrapped up. Both main characters have come a long way, but it was Blackthorn who made the strongest impact in this particular book. I'm going to miss this team, and definitely recommend these books to anyone who loves a mix of mystery and fantasy, and maybe a hint of romance between two characters who support and save each other.

My favourite book in the series - I will be looking for more by this author in the future. A really satisfying wrap up for the main characters…

I enjoyed this whole trilogy so much. (Especially Cara in this one, and her relationship with Blackthorn.) Just treat yourself and read them all.

I can't believe it's over. When I heard that this was to be the final Blackthorn and Grim novel, I was devastated. I absolutely loved Dreamer's Pool, and eagerly awaited each sequel. With this series, Juliet Marillier crafted yet another remarkable world with flawed characters. She treads brilliantly between fairy tale and reality, never forgetting the human aspect and emotions. Sadly her publisher wanted her to move on to another storyline, thus the end of my friends.

Emotions aside, I really enjoyed Den of Wolves. The story started slow, but the pace eventually picked up and had me chomping at the bit for more. I constantly wondered whether the story would bring closure to the tale of Blackthorn and Grim, or if there'd be a number of unanswered questions. With each turning page, I grew more and more concerned. How could all these threads be tied together in such a short timeframe? Knowing this would be the last book, I could see where Miss Marillier had to quickly combine all the plots. It felt slightly rushed compared to her other novels, but she did a marvelous job tying together everything.

What I loved most about Blackthorn and Grim was the hidden fairy tale/folk tales within the stories. It was like a story within a story. I loved seeing Blackthorn and Grim evolve as characters, and their friendship grow as they worked to help those around them.

I'll miss my friends, but I look forward to whatever world Miss Marillier crafts next.

What a wonderful conclusion to the series. A beautiful celebration of love, found family, and what justice really means.

This is by no means a cozy fantasy, but I still feel like I got a hug at the end. ❤️

A beautiful ending for the Blackthorn & Grim trilogy. I really enjoyed Juliet Marillier writing, her world building and look forward to reading more from her in 2019.

I didn't want this series to end. I still don't want it to. As with all Marillier's characters, I'm attached to them. I've anticipated each new Blackthorn & Grim tale every year, and I don't know what I'll do next. The ending was perfect, I felt so content and happy, but at the same time I couldn't help but wish for more. Every scene, every word, every moment was filled with magic. I can't wait to relive this series again, and I can only hope that there will be more in this series.
