Honestly, I liked the story and the writing but I just could not handle the body gore of this one. But for those who don’t mind it, this could be a great read!

Join Ji-won as she navigates the tricky world of the emerging cannibal. There is a lot of buildup before we go there, but what a payoff. Loved the super-short chapters, the various relationships between characters, the insight into Korean (and Korean-American) family dynamics, and in the end, Ji-won’s coup de grâce is really satisfying.  This is not for everyone; there is graphic body horror involved.

the messages got a little heavy handed for me, like i didn't feel that it was necessary to have the feminist overtones spelled out so frequently and blatantly. i would rather have just drawn my own conclusions for ji-won's motivations bc they were pretty clear to begin with. BUT, all that being said, i thought it was a fun thriller with a fun killer protagonist to root for, and the heavy handedness of it made sense in that context. like yeah i'll root for the traumatized man killer, she deserves a little treat.

I loved the audio version of this book. I tried to read the print copy and couldn’t seem to get into it, so I’m glad I gave the audio copy a chance. I loved the descriptions, concise but still impactful. The narrator was great. Love it.

Wow. I'm shook. How eerily creepy. I'm thankful I don't have blue eyes after reading this...

I didn't read any descriptions of this before starting it, I just knew it would be more of a horror genre. I'm kind of really glad I went into this mostly blind (pun fully intended). It started off as a sad story about a young girl's struggling life, but flipped to a creepy story of eyeballs and revenge, and i was hooked the whole time. The ending was *chefs kiss*.

Comparing this book to Crying in H-Mart is crazy. All the men in this book are so hatable, I kept saying someone should kill this guy knowing full well that the main character was going to kill that guy

This story was awesome. Feminism, Asian culture, and weird girl shit. I was mad, sad, and joyous at different parts. Highly recommend
