What. A. Read. Not what I expected but woah. I thought: how much horror could that really be? Well enough to make me gag multiple times by the vivid descriptions and I'm usually not sensitive to stuff like that. It's (how it's written) a super easy read but it's not easily digested. Pun intended. I like when the main character is not 100% likeable.

The things that weren't mine : many dream sequences and blue eyes mentions are included. It was a bit too much for me. I zoomed through and I was entertained and wanted to know how it ended so the book did it's Job. As others mentioned: the racism and sexism could've been subtler and that would've made it even better. But it's a debut and I would read Monika Kim's next book too(:

I would recommend this book to those who like reading a lot of dream sequences, but unfortunately I am not one of them. This book had a formulaic pattern that became predictable in that after every murder, some surreal dream about eyeballs occurred. This happened so many times that I just got bored of reading them. I also had to suspend my disbelief at the ending, because what do you mean

Ji-Won was able to just walk over to George's bed, kill him, eat his eyeballs and NONE OF THE STAFF OR CAMERAS SAW HER??? And she still somehow is able to frame someone else for the murder.

It was just too unbelievable for my tastes.
