I did enjoy this, even though I had to stop and take a break multiple times because wow, this was graphic and disgusting. Not exactly beach reading material (she says, sat on a beach in the south of France). I came for the eyeball eating, but really only made it through to the finish due to the other plot points (racism, sexism). It kept the story moving onwards whilst I was waiting for the “finale”. The ending wrapped up a bit Too Nicely, the bad guys were a bit Too Cartoonishly Bad, but overall I’m not mad at it.

A super fun, unique, and fast read! Not too heavy on the horror side (if you can stomach light cannibalism lol). It felt more like a YA drama more than a horror. But I'm very excited to see it adapted to film!

I had really high hopes for this book, but it was kind of just okay. Enjoyable enough and a super easy read and a good kick off to fall/spooky season.
