Looks like I'm in the minority--I liked this book better than the first book. The author has relaxed a bit, only introducing one or two new earth shattering reveals, and I was able to catch my breath and process what we've been told. The split PoV moves events forwards at a pretty decent rate, and only on occasion feels a bit ping pongy. I'm still not certain how we get five books more, at this rate of escalation, but I'm willing to hang on and find out.

I'm glad I took the chance and listened on with this series. While this book is a little messy, just like book 1, it has a much clearer storyline, and it's clear the author has really sat down to evolve the world and the ARC more than she did wiht book one.

I'm looking forward to listening on to the series.

The second one in the series definitely keeps on with all of the great things book one had in it, - and ads to it! I really enjoyed this one and am going to book 3 straight away.

It was a nice book overall.. But I just saw that this series consists of 7 books in total and I'm not sure I'm ready for this kind of commitment..

I really enjoyed the split perspective and the additional characters, but felt that the writing could have used a bit of editing. Some of the word choices actually distracted me completely from the plot. However, I'll definitely stay tuned for the next chapter.

I liked second installment in the series, but not enough to continue with the series, at least right now.
First book was fully from perspective of Jesse, but this one introduces Ali as a second narrator. It was a smart move from the author, especially after all the events that transpire in this story.
Would I recommend it? Yes. But it's going into that dystopian intrigue territory with high stakes and 'political' intrigue that I don't particularly like.
