I will never read a book like this again. This book is entirely too long and would’ve been great without the never ending sex scenes. I had to skip forward and play the audiobook at up to 2x speed in several cases. The backstory is interesting but unfortunately overshadowed by the unending sex scenes.

When I saw the audiobook was 14.5 hours I thought there’s no way a book needs to be that long. And the reason it’s so long is because it’s a bunch of drawn out sex scenes linked together by an interesting story. This bin could have been shorter. Way shorter. But apparently the sex scenes just had to be as long as possible. I wish there was a version I’d the book with less sex and more story.

I read the prequel to the book and thought it was great. But this book stunk. To start, Rachel came off as wushu-washy and manipulative in the book. The other characters, Jake, Caleb, and Ilmari, were more interesting. However, the relationship between them felt forced. Each guy had an insecurity and it soon felt like a competition. Anytime the book tries to approach that subject for a real conversation, it barely covers it before jumping into an excessive make out/ sex session. Ilmari joins the relation halfway into the book but it still feels forced. I especially found Ilmari to be more interesting. The storyline about his injury and background was better compared to the other plot. However I didn’t like his relationship with Rachel. The biggest issue was how she handled him and his bio dad. At first, Rachel didn’t know that Dr. Hella was his bio dad but then she pushes Ilmari to forgive him and form a relationship. I’m sorry, I can excuse Rachel not knowing who Dr. Hella was to Ilmari but to push him to accept him was the straw that broke the camels back.

oh my. SO HOT. one of the spiciest books i’ve read in a minute. loved the characters and the dynamics within the relationship. gasped and laughed at several moments. very pleased with the ending.

did not enjoy the drama from the fmc, but i understood where she was coming from.

I would say this book is like 80% sex and 20% hockey. Some chapters its just sex after sex after sex, and as someone who loves a bit of smut, it was a little too much at times. It felt like they had sex sometimes just to have sex and it didn't really add much to the plot.

Poor Caleb, man. He kept getting the short end of the stick.

Rachel cries too easily. The zodiac stuff was annoying.

I think Jake was left out of some sex scenes for no reason...like Mars and Caleb definitely got more action than him—but Jake arguably had more of a connection to Rachel.

Anyway, it was a fun and cute read. The first 20 or so chapters made me want to pull my hair out with how emotional Rachel was...and how she kept calling Caleb "daddy"...and the stuttering. But it got better.

Caleb is revealed to be queer at the beginning of the book, but it doesn't come into play until around 50% of the way in. Definitely thought the author made him gay just to have a gay character and be "inclusive", but I'm glad it actually went somewhere and was useful to the plot.

VERY sex positive.

this was such a good palate cleanser after hofas, and i really had so much fun with it. described this book to my hairstylist as a fun trashy romance, and really that’s just what you need sometimes. i’ll definitely be reading the rest of this series
