I don't like the portrayal of mental health in this book. For one, the way the main characters speak to each other is like how pick me middle schoolers talk to each other. Like, you are both hypocrites!! You can't use somebody else as a crutch. The way Crosby was characterized was not realistic at all either... Next, the author is a coward for not making the romance a thruple. And then killing him off so they didn't have to deal with his third wheel. And their wounds were just as serious and they should've died too.

“Wait until the sun rises, and the light makes you feel a little less pointless”
“What if waiting doesn’t work?” I whisper…
“You let me know and I’ll hold you until the darkness fades.”

This book definitely just finished me and not the other way around. Ultimately this is a beautiful, tender, heart wrenching story of broken souls that find each other in their darkest times. The last 100 pages had me reading fervently and there were plenty of twists that left me wide eyed.

the only thing that stops me from giving it a five is that i’m not a big smut reader, so i wasn’t all that into those scenes, two felt out of place for me and only one i felt did fit with the story. but that’s just me personally.

despite spoiling part of the ending for myself i still thoroughly enjoyed it. i found myself heartbroken when the moment came, despite knowing it was coming.

i will absolutely be reading more of her books. i was a little worried by the trigger warnings at first but i didn’t find it to be an issue for me when reading.

however, fair warning that the one thing i did find that hit too close was the struggle a character’s internal struggle with self harm. so please read with care and take breaks if you need !

The Fabric of our Souls by K. M. Moronova

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Wow, I’ve heard so much about this book that I had to put it as one of my first reads of the year and I’m glad I did. Some of the aspects of the story are dark, it was one of those books that resonates.
The story starts off mainly about mental health and as someone who struggles with theirs I fully connected. The feelings and emotions that are explained come from a place of understanding.

Then it turns into much more then that, first the connection and love between the main characters. They fall fast and hard. It’s a real love. Then there’s the other main character and the way the story is told is just beautiful. I don’t want to say too much because it will ruin the story, but love comes in many different forms and if you have the love these 3 characters did you are a lucky soul.
There was some spice in the book and while it was hot, it wasn’t the main point of the story and I liked that.

Then there’s the suspense part of the book, I was so hooked! I needed to know what happens and who it was. I guessed and was beyond wrong.

The ending, I read where so many people cried and as I was reading the end I’m like wait why? Then I learned and wow just wow. I hated it, but honestly it was the best ending it could have been for the story.

I will recommend this book to anyone and everyone but please check the TW there’s some pretty heavy topics
