“I’m just saying—wait for the weight of the world to pass. Wait until the tremors that wrack through your skull drift into the depths again. Wait until the sun rises, and the light makes you feel a little less pointless.”

“Even if I were to die, it would not matter. But the second sorrow is able to burrow its way into my bones, I’m more melancholic about the defining moments in my life than I ever thought possible.”

“The fabric of our souls is thin—we’ve been wandering this world just to unite in this small corner of the universe. ”

Yet again an unhinged, insane, WILD ride KM Moronova, thank you✨

First of all, why in the hell was the cover changed from the indie one. It’s GORGEOUS, I’ll never forgive you publishers.

The plot in this was spookier than I expected and was honestly pretty enjoyable. Enjoyable as in, kept me engaged not that it was fun- this book is insanely dark and please read the trigger warnings because they’re not for decoration. The ending felt a little disjointed and rushed though which was kind of disappointing.

The main reason for the lower rating is the spice. Now. I love a good spice scene and I am not stranger to a wild one, but this was just not my cup of tea. Let me be so clear that if a man EVER had the audacity to say I repulsed him he’s getting a swift kick in the dick AND balls. I also can’t stand the pregnancy trope- so the getting her pregnant dialogue made me actually want to crawl out of my skin.

Also this is nitpicky but if you’re in the hospital for heart complications, your ass is not allowed to have coffee. Anyways

This book tore my heart to shreds. I was sobbing and blinking through tears. It's a beautifully tragic story.

Wow, hey what the fuck?????? Devastating, beautiful, insightful. 5 fucking stars. It was fast paced, and a little confusing in the middle. The pacing threw me off for a bit, but it all came back together just in time to stomp on my heart. And now I will be telling my friends to read it (yay!!!!!) I’ll always think about Wynn, Liam and Lanston. ❤️‍🩹

The Fabric of Our Souls by K.M. Moronova is one of those rare books that grips you deeper the further you read. With every chapter, you find yourself wanting to peel back more layers, to truly understand these complex, broken characters. It dives headfirst into heavy, emotional themes, mental health, self-harm, and does so with honesty and impact.

I’m not usually a fan of the instant-love trope, but here, it worked for me. Liam’s fractured family dynamic was gut-wrenching to read about, and I found myself aching for him. I only wish we’d gotten more of Wynn and Lanston’s complete story as well.

There are moments of pure beauty in these pages, along with twists I never saw coming. Moronova has this gift for opening a story in a way that hooks you immediately and keeps you addicted until the very end.

I closed the book feeling grateful that the three of them found each other, that they could be each other’s cure. Remedium meum.

The emotional connections were decent and I didnt see the plot twist coming but this isn't written well from a technical standpoint. Its rather passive in its general tone. The dialogue doesn't flow super well and comes across as disjointed. The sex scenes weren't descriptively great. There were times where the plot just didnt feel complete, like scenes were missing chunks that would have pushed the quality up. It just fell flat. I definitely considered DNFing it multiple times. I didnt really vibe with the writing style and found a lot of it to be cringy. Also I wouldnt consider this a dark Gothic romance. Its definitely dark and doesn't shy away from blood or gore but not gothic. More thriller romance.
Definitely read the content warnings.
I did like the found family aspect though. The group formed loved each deeply despite their mental illness.
