Yazarın wallflowers temalı serisini okuyacaktım ama son kitabın çıkmasını beklerken başka serisine el atmış bulundum

This is my first Stacy Reid book I have struggled to get into. In the end it's pretty standard period romance, but usually her books are a bit above standard so I suppose that is what some of my disappointment in this stems from.

I liked the set up, but I wish Adel had worked through the betrayal a bit more instead of immediately forgiving, it would have made her feel a bit more real. And Edmond was meant to be a reserved character, but even in his parts there was just nothing there for me to latch on to and care about.

Everything felt a bit rushed, we never sat in any emotional beats or had too much introspection, so there was nothing for me to buy into as far as caring about the characters or plot. Im concerned about the rest of the series being the same and am cautious about reading the next even though what I have otherwise read from Stacy Reid has been all in all good.

The story was not exactly surprising, but Adeline was sweet and entertaining as a main character. I just wish the Duke-whose-name-I-have-forgotten-already had been less annoying

He is a very sweet guy. I hated that he left her in the middle of the book because he did not want to be hurt if she dies in childbirth.

I don’t know how Stacy Reid can make things so compelling while also keeping them so short. Her characterizations are sooooo smart and unique. Love love love this one.
