I read this over the course of three days after preordering it. I wasn't a fan of Prasifka's first novel None of This is Serious until I read it again in preparation for reading this book and it totally changed my perspective. Prasifka writes about the online experience in a way that I haven't seen other authors do. Perhaps it's because like me, Prasifka straddles the Gen Z/millennial bracket. In This Is How You Remember it, Prasifka's unnamed protagonist grows up alongside the internet and with each year that passes, the internet becomes more sophisticated and her life becomes more complicated. She captures the essence of living a sort of double life, constantly pre-occupied with how your online persona relates to your real life and sometimes living more in the digital realm than in the real one. This novel is written in the second person (in line with the title) and this is at once accusatory and strangely comforting. I saw experiences I and others I know have had on the pages. If you've read Tennis Lessons by Susannah Dickey, you'll understand this feeling. Prasifka's first novel explored social media addiction and doomscrolling, whereas this novel focuses on the more personal consequences of social media use.
Highly recommend!

I forgive the use of second person point of view, because this so closely resembled my own youth on the internet and I related to it. I don't really know how to feel about the fact that her problem seems to go away when
she is finally with this man in a romantic relationship. Like, just kind of wished she could have had a strong realistic ending instead of a storybook one where suddenly everything is fine.
